How to Use Chia Seeds?
Chia seeds are grown in South America. Chia is a cousin of sage and mint. It is recommended not to exceed the daily dose of 15g.
When wet, the chia seed swells and develops a mucilage that tends to thicken (set) the liquid around it, helping to reduce appetite while also providing culinary qualities. You can use it to:
- Make puddings.
- Replace an egg by mixing one tablespoon of chia seeds with three tablespoons of water, then letting it sit for half an hour to obtain a gelatinous consistency.
- Replace flour to thicken a sauce, for example, by grinding it into powder before adding it to your liquid sauce.
- Use it in smoothies or water, like in the chia fresca video recipe!
When dry, the seed is used for its crunchiness. You can sprinkle it on your salads, cottage cheese, or bread. You can also use it in your pie doughs for added crunch or even to create crusts on your meats.
Sprinkled directly into your dairy products, morning cereals, or smoothies, these seeds will help you maintain a healthy and varied diet. Rich in fiber and fatty acids, don't hesitate any longer!
